OnPlus has finally launched it’s latest flagship smartphone in Nepal as part of it’s global rollout. So, let’s look at the including the full specs, features, pricing, and availability.
OnePlus 12 Everything You Need to Know
OnePlus 12 was initially launched in China in December of last year and is now available globally.
You can even find it in Europe where the company had pulled out following a patent dispute with Nokia. The two have agreed on a deal that allows OnePlus to get back to the European market.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 + Dual Cryo-velocity VC
Raw power has always been a strong suit of the main OnePlus series, and it’s no different here
OnePlus 12 packs the most powerful smartphone processor in the market today. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is built on a 4nm TSMC and brings 30% faster CPU and 25% faster GPU. Likewise, efficiency is greater by 20% and 25%, respectively.
To tame this raw power, OnePlus has introduced a new dual vapor chamber setup called Dual Cryo-velocity VC. It brings a combination of one small and one big vapor chamber for a combined 9140mm² surface (when folded).
As per the company, the heat dissipation is increased by 3 times, and this results in a 7-degree color phone.
HyperRendering for Gamers
That’s not all, OnePlus 12 incorporates a new HyperRendering graphics technology for gamers.
This incorporates OnePlus’ in-house rendering technology backed by Pixelwork X7 display processor, uplifting the overall visual experience.
With this, the phone can enable 120fps games on all games using frame interporlation. This algorithm adds new frames between real frames for a smoother ones.
One downside is that it results in latency which is 10ms in the case of OnePlus 12. But, you can argue its a fair trade given there is 2K 120fps gaming on the other end of the deal.
2K ProXDR Display
HyperRendering is just the icing on the cake that is the ProXDR display on the OnePlus 12.
OnePlus 12 sports a 2K HDR display that can go from 1Hz to 120Hz depending upon the content you are viewing. Likewise, it boasts a 2160Hz PWM Dimming.
Starting this year, OnePlus has also added Aqua Touch technology that allows you to use your phone even when your hands are wet.
4500 nits of brightness?
Its an A+ display, as rated by DisplayMate, with the key selling point being the 4500 nits of peak brightness. Technically its the biggest peak brightness for a smartphone but don’t expect it to reflect in real life.
Smartphone brands are notorious for measuring brightness of a very small region of the display under a very controlled experiment to bloat the number.
4th Gen Hasselblad Cameras
The phone uses Hasselblad and Oppo’s computational photography algorithms to enhance the photos taken.
The 64MP telephoto camera supports 3x optical, 6x in-sensor, and 120x digital zoom. Likewise, you get a 48MP ultrawide camera with a 114° field of view.
Coming to the primary cameras, OnePlus 12 features the latest 50MP Sony LYT-808 image sensor as its primary shooter. It is a new sensor that you can find in many of flagship phones of BBK Group.
So, what’s the fuss really about?
New Pixel Stack LYTIA Technology
Compared to the traditional image sensor, LYT-808 uses a new Pixel Stack technology in which photodiode and corresponding transistor are placed on different substrate instead of one.
This makes room for bigger photodiodes which in turn increases the amount of light it can absorb improving the overall HDR.
Likewise, Sony has even increased the pixel transistor size to reduce noise while taking pictures in low light condition.
Battery and Charging
OnePlus 12 packs a enourmous 5,400mAh battery with support for 100W charging. That said, OnePlus ships it with 80W charger in few countries.
The phone also marks the debut of 50W AIRVOOC wireless charging. It charges each cell of the battery at 25W for a combined 50W.
