Telecom service provider Smart Telecom‘s license has been revoked due to non-submission of deadlines. As per the board meeting held on Shrawan 12, it was stated by Nepal Telecom Authority that Smart Telecom should pay Rs 30 crore within the 15 days and all remaining amount within the next 3 months. Though Smart Telecom was able to pay Rs 30 crore in the given time but they were unable to pay the remaining amount in 3 months. The amount of arrears up to mid-September, including Smart Telecom fines, has reached Rs 2 Arba, the authority said.
The company is yet to pay around Rs 2 Arba and 32 crore, according to NEA, spokesman Min Prasad Aryal. “Smart’s license is in the process of being automatically revoked as per the decision of the board after failing to submit the settlement within the stipulated period,” he said, adding that the authority will soon take a more precise decision on this issue.
