DJI Mavic Mini just weighs 249 which makes it bypass the necessary registration of the drone and pilot. It can fly at max speed of 12m/s in Sport mode and provide up to 30mins of flight time as per claimed by the company. This drone also features a 12MP, f/2.8 camera sensor fitted into 3axis gimbal which helps the sensor to take amazing still videos and photos even if the drone feels jumpy or unstable. Rules to Follow & Get a Permit to Fly Drones in Nepal
Before you go and shop for drones in Nepal, you must get a permit to fly drones from CAAN and abide strictly by rules.
Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has implemented strict rules and regulations related to flying drones, enthusiastic people apply for the permit with official papers and use drones.
Rules and Regulations implemented by CAAN regarding use of drones
- Should apply for flying drone and receive permission from CAAN.
- Flying drones over people or crowds of people are strictly prohibited.
- Other people’s privacy should be respected and a case could file if they complain.
- Daylight hours and in good weather conditions are the only time you can fly drones.
- Flying drones over military installations, powerplants, airports or government departments is strictly prohibited.
- The maximum allowed flight altitude is 120 meters and the horizontal distance is 500 meters.
How to get a permit to fly a drone in Nepal?
- A permission letter should be taken to the municipality of the place where the drone is to fly.
- Recommendation letter from the CDO office is compulsory which will be given to you only after the CDO receives a permission letter from the municipality.
- After this permission, the police headquarters will give a security clearance letter and will even provide security if needed or requested.
- All the documents, permission letters, and security clearance should be collected and submitted to CAAN after that only the drones can fly.
(Note: No charges will be made for the above permission letter or security clearance letter and the process will take 3 days in total.)
