With all those leaks, renders and teasers we had, there was hardly anything we were not aware of about the latest OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. And now it’s finally unveiled, OnePlus has shown us their standard OnePlus 7 version and the most expensive phone the company has ever produced — OnePlus 7 Pro.
OnePlus 7 Pro: Design, and Display
OnePlus 7 Pro is the most featured packed phone from the company to date. The phone houses a sandwich of premium metal and glass chassis. And as every leak suggested, the pro version flaunts the most talked pop-up camera. This pop-up camera has some serious feature under the hood like the pop-up camera automatically detects the free-fall condition, if it falls suddenly when open, and closes the camera mechanism to protect it breaking if it lands the wrong way! Also, the company claims the pop-up camera is good to 300,000 open and closes until the functionality starts to degrade.
And as OnePlus 7 Pro carries the DNA from their OnePlus 6 and 6T, the phone has their “alert slider,” for quick switch between “Vibration”, “Silent” or “Ring” mode, still intact by the power button. However, unfortunately, the phone has the 3.5mm headphone jack missing. The device has a single bottom firing speaker and built in the tiny little earpiece. Besides, the “alert slider” from the 6T, OnePlus 7 Pro has equipped more advanced and upgraded in-display fingerprint scanner capable of 0.21s super-fast unlock.
Moving on to the display part, OnePlus 7 Pro rocks a 6.67-inch FLUID AMOLED with 93.22% screen-to-body QHD+ screen. No big grand-father notch, no waterdrop notch or a punch-hole camera cutout to distract. Nothing but a beautiful all-screen display. OnePlus 7 Pro has borrowed the curved edges from the Samsung S and Note lineups, the phone pretty much looks like Galaxy S10 Plus at a first glance. However, the “90Hz refresh rate” steals the spotlight for anything related to the display, promising better and smoother scrolls and animations.
OnePlus 7 Pro: Camera, and Specs
Under the hood, the latest Qualcomm’s 7nm Snapdragon 855 SoC powers the beast. The 7 Pro is available in 6GB, 8GB and 12GB RAM variants, coupled with either of 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. Additionally, the smartphone employs a new 10-layer liquid cooling system and a powerful, improved haptic feedback.
Talking about the camera, OnePlus, for the first time ever, installed three cameras on their phone. OnePlus 7 Pro sports a 48MP, f/1.6 main shooter, which is then accompanied by a 16MP, f/2.2 ultrawide lens, and an 8MP, f/2.4 telephoto sensor. This triple-camera setup is currently the most commonly adopted setup by any flagship phones. On the front, for selfies, a 16MP, f/2.0 motorized pop-up camera does the job. The 7 Pro can shoot 4K videos at up to 60 frames per second, and slow-motion at up to 240 frames per second.
OnePlus really thought of the power consuming “larger QHD+ 90 Hz display” and has 4000mAh battery and the company’s WARP 30W quick charging tech to balance it out. Except the IP-rating to back up the 7 Pro’s water-resistant claim, and the wireless charging, OnePlus 7 Pro kind of does everything for 300 less than $1000 phones out there.
