The news regarding the registration of the SIM card under the user’s name has been floating around for a while now. This notice was given out by Nepal Telecom Authority (NTA). Nagarik app that will help the people to receive the Nepal Government Services digitally, is set to launch by the Nepal Government in the future. The sole reason for the registration of the SIM card under the user’s name is this.
According to the Nepal Government, they want to give the people government service in an easily accessible manner. For this, they are planning to deliver an app service that will be linked with the individual mobile number. So, if we have the SIM card ownership in our name, it will be beneficial for us. Both NTC and Ncell users can register their SIM cards in their names if they do not have it.
How to change your current SIM card ownership to your name?
For NTC users:
The best you can do is visit the NTC office. You must have your citizenship with you for verification. Follow the instructions given by the officials.
For Ncell users:
Visit the closet Ncell center you can find. Follow the instructions given by the officials.

What will happen if you do not register?
If you do not register the SIM card, you will not be able to use the services provided by the Nepal Government. It’s better to register your SIM card under your own name.
