The long wait is finally over. Apple has finally unveiled its iPad Pro 2020. Especially talking about the last three iPads, Apple has upped the level of ‘tablet’ computing and this time, it’s no different. The new iPad Pro 2020 comes in two size variants; iPad Pro 11-inch and iPad Pro 12.9-inch.
New iPad Pro 2020 Design and Display
iPad Pro 2020 flaunts the true color Liquid Retina display. The iPad Pro has an 11-inch display with 2388 by 1668 pixels while iPad Pro 12.9 has a 12.9-inch display with 2388 by 1668 pixels. The display supports backlit Multi-touch and is embedded with 120Hz ProMotion technology. It can reach up to 600 nits of maximum brightness.
Talking the device aesthetics, iPad Pro has rounded corners followed by rounded corners. It has scratch-resistant glass and oleophobic coating. It has a glass front and aluminum back bounded by the aluminum frame. Since Apple has ditched the headphone jack on the iPad Pro (since 2018), there’s no sight of 3.55mm headphone jack on iPad Pro 2020. On the bottom edge, we have a USB Type-C port.
Dual Camera Setup
One of the substantial improvements to the iPad Pro 2020 is the camera. As the camera setup on iPhone 11 series was appreciated by numerous people, Apple has included a similar camera setup of iPad Pro as well. Both of these iPad Pro variants houses the first-ever dual rear camera setup. For the selfie camera, we have a 7MP camera lens. This true depth camera system gives you the world’s most secure facial authentication in a ‘tablet’ form factor (or a computer?!). There are more than 30,000 invisible dots projected onto your face to build a unique facial map.
The first-ever dual rear camera setup of the iPad consists of 12MP (wide) + 10MP alongside the TOF-3D LiDar scanner as well. The new TOF-3D LiDar scanner has depth-sensing capabilities that will surely enhance the photography. With the dual rear camera, you can shoot videos 2160p at 24/30/60 fps and 1080p at 30/60/120/240 fps; gyro-EIS.
We have a Quad-LED true tone flash as well. You can go up to a five-time digital zoom. Other camera features like Backside illumination sensor, Hybrid IR filter, Autofocus with Focus Pixels, Live Photos with stabilization, Wide color capture, Improved local tone mapping, Exposure control, Noise reduction, Smart HDR for photos, Auto image stabilization, Burst mode, Timer mode, Photo geotagging and many more are available.
New iPad Pro 2020 Specs and Performance
Apple’s latest A12Z Bionic chip powers the iPad Pro 2020. As per the Apple officials, this chip is capable of high power task like editing 4K videos and designing 3D models. It runs on iPadOS 14. It has the trackpad support.
Apple has stated, “The cursor appears as a circle that highlights user interface elements, text fields and apps on the Home screen and Dock, giving a clear indication of what users can click on. Fluid gestures on the trackpad make it easy to switch between apps, access the app switcher and activate the Dock, Control Center and apps in Slide Over.”
In the memory department, there is 6GB of RAM and for the storage, you’ll find 64GB, 128GB, 512GB, and 1TB variant. There’s no option of expanding the internal memory with microSDXC. So, if you buy a 64GB variant, the storage might concern you. Apple has not disclosed about the battery capacity. However 11-inch iPad Pro has built-in 29.37 watt-hour battery while 12.9-inch iPad Pro is fuelled by a 36.71 watt-hour battery. Both of these batteries will give 10 hours of surfing the browser plus the cellular data network.
Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard Folio with Trackpad support
The new second-generation Apple pencil is engineered to make writing and drawing as natural as possible and simple. With the Apple Pencil, you can switch the tools seamlessly. It has a Bluetooth integration and a magnetic placement. When the pencil automatically attaches on the iPad it charges automatically. It has a matte finish with a seamless design.
Smart Keyboard Folio is a new addition to the Apple iPad. Apple calls it Magic Keyboard. The keyboard has an adjustable hinge allowing for 130 degrees. One thing to take note of this Magic Keyboard is that it has its own USB Type-C port. This Magic keyboard has a simple and streamlined folio design. For the connection, we have a smart connector on the back of the iPad.
