Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 was launched in the month of September 2019 and is successor to Watch Active. Although it had been launched in September it has just found its way to Nepal’s market. Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 features a bigger customizable screen, digital bezel for quick controls and a fresh new minimalistic look. Even though Samsung has packed Watch Active 2 with great design and features it faces serious competition from Honor Magic Watch 2, Watch GT 2, Mi Watch, Apple Watch Series 5 as they are all already launched and available in the market. Display and Design

 Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 comes with a 1.4mm Circular Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 360x360p in 44mm variant and 1.2mm Circular Super AMOLED display with the same resolution in the 40mm variant. These display sports Always-on display feature and has protection of Corning Gorilla Glass DX+. This beautiful display has no physical bezels but has a digital bezel which can be used for quick controls and navigation. The bezel has been made useful to say.  

Coming to the design, Watch Active 2 has a completely new look. It looks more beautiful and attractive. It has 2 buttons at the left edge one which is Back Key and other acts as a Home Key. Watch Active 2 comes in two build; Aluminum and Stainless Steel. Watch Active 2 also features a feature that puts together a watch face to match your outfit automatically and all you have to use this feature is to snap a photo of your outfit.

There are custom straps that are also available which would match your style and other unique and amazing straps that Samsung sells separately. Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 provides great comfort and durability. The straps feel smooth and don’t tire your wrist. It also comes with water-resistant up to 50 meters deep and is IP68 certified.

Fitness Features and Performance

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 can track your movements, heart rate, calorie and gather data while you’re running, walking, cycling, rowing, swimming or doing exercises in your gym. Not just this but Watch Active 2 tracks all this automatically with swimming added with other 6 exercises and can track dozens of exercises manually. Running coach gathers data of your running and gives you actionable advice in real-time to improve your breathing while running or give advice to improve your running.

Watch Active 2 also has a stress tracker that tracks your stress level which suggests breathing exercises to ensure your peace of mind. Sleep tracker and analysis also analyzes your sleep and shows you results which you can look on. The heart rate tracker of Watch Active 2 is one of his highlights which keeps monitors your heart rate and sends alert notification when it goes above or below normal levels.

With the help of pre-installed apps and a large range of downloadable 3rd party, apps can enhance its fitness feature even more. You can download 3rd party apps to line up your personal apps and features which you wish for and which you can use while exercising. Watch Active 2 has a smart assistant who can control your camera, view feed and interact on social media and translate language stuff. It can even handle incoming calls with Wi-Fi. It can check on contacts, messages, control/stream music and also has other normal smartwatch features also.

Watch Active is equipped with Exynos 9110 Dual-core 1.15GHz on both variants and comes with different types of sensors like Accelerometer, Gyro, Barometer, HRM, Ambient Light and others which help to enhance Watch Active 2’s performance and features. Tizen Based Wearable OS 4.0 is installed as software in Watch Active 2 which feels really user-friendly and looks amazing. The memory that Watch Active 2 features is 1.5GB RAM + 4GB internal memory in LTE/ Bluetooth version and 768MB RAM + 4GB internal memory in that variant which features Bluetooth only.

Battery and Connectivity

Samsung Watch Active 2 comes with a 340mAh battery in a 44mm variant and with a 247mAh variant in the 40mm variant. Watch Active 2’s battery provides over two and a half-day of usage power on a single charge. You can juice up the Watch Active 2 via compact magnetic wireless charger. All you have do is just place the watch Active 2 over the magnetic wireless charger and then there you go; the juice up begins.

 As for connectivity, Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 comes with LTE in only variants and Bluetooth 5.0 on both variants along with Wi-Fi, NFC which supports Samsung Pay, A-GPS and others. You can connect Watch Active 2 devices which has Android 5.0 higher software along with 1.5GB RAM and above. As for Apple iPhones, Watch Active 2 requires iPhone 5 or above and iOS 9.0 or above software to pair/connect.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 Price in Nepal is set at Rs. 39,000 for 44mm Aluminum Build/Only Bluetooth variant has been launched in Nepal just recently. Right now, Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 isn’t available in online shopping sites but is available in Samsung’s official showrooms and other variants shall also be available in the near future. It comes in 3 colors; Cloud Silver, Aqua Black and Pink Gold in a variant that has Bluetooth only and Aluminum build. For a Stainless steel variant that has both LTE and Bluetooth it comes also in three colors; Silver, Black, and Gold.
