Huawei FreeLace was launched by Huawei alongside Mate 30 Pro and FreeBuds 3. FreeLace isn’t true wireless earphones but is wireless and the earphones are connected to each other via a cable that goes around our neck while using it. The sound quality is really good in this device and some users have also claimed it to be a better performer than FreeBuds 3 in terms of sound quality and performance. Design & Performance

Huawei FreeLace is connected to each other via cable and aren’t true wireless earphones. The cable is made from nickel-titanium alloy and liquid silicon which feels really smooth and feels comfortable while sitting in our neck. The battery pack sits at the left whereas the volume and control panel on the left. A Type-C jack is also kept hidden in the control panel which can be used to charge up the FreeLace via inserting into a smartphone or power bank.

FreeLace comes with IPX5 water/sweat resistant so there’s nothing to worry about the damage. It can be used while exercising and running but the cable may disturb as it will hop up and down.

One of the highlights of the FreeLace is its magnets. These magnets in each earphone can attach to each other while not in use and in detaching, it can connect to paired devices automatically and automatically answer calls while detaching and reject calls after attaching. It can also play/pause song during attaching and detaching if music is being played.

There is also a function button that pauses/plays in a single click, skips a song in double press and activates Google Assistant in triple press. It can also pair and connect to unpaired devices at once automatically via inserting Type-C connector to Huawei or Honor smartphones which Huawei calls HiPair technology and can also be charged by the phone.

Huawei has also integrated 9.2mm dynamic drivers in each earphone which enhances the sound quality and delivers a rich bass while titanium plating gives a really good sounding treble. The sound is overall very balanced and feels very rich.

FreeLace also has a perfect collaboration between dual-channel Wind Noise Reduction and Bluetooth noise-canceling algorithm which isolates surrounding sound and doesn’t let the sound of the surrounding go inside your ear canal while hearing to music or doing anything else. The silicone tips add jamming and enhance this feature even more.

Battery & Power

Coming to the battery, FreeLace delivers 18hrs of continuous music playback time on a single charge. If the juice drains and you don’t have enough time to charge the FreeLace then you can get 4hrs of music playback time in just 5mins of charge. FreeLace delivers up to 12-day standby time on a single charge.

FreeLace can be charged via Type-C jack found hidden in the control panel. You will just have to take out the Type-C connector and insert it into Type-C port found in smartphones or power banks.
