Vivo is known to provide a mid-range phone at a mid-range price that targets teenagers and youngsters through its sleek design and camera specifications. Vivo smartphones have been appreciated by teenagers and also adults through its budget-friendly price and design that it offers in a mid-range segment. Vivo as yet launched another phone named “Vivo S5” which comes with hole-punch Super AMOLED display and quad rear camera setup.
Vivo S5 is expected to launch in India on February 20, 2019. After it launches, we speculated that the Vivo S5 price in Nepal could be Rs. 43,000.

Display and Design
Vivo S5 comes with a 6.44-inch Super AMOLED display with a 1080x2400p resolution. This display also holds an in-display fingerprint scanner and a hole-punch where its front camera resides. The display can go up to 1200 nits max bright which is really good. The display is very vibrant, colorful, solid and well contrasted which gives the user a great experience while watching videos, playing games and doing graphics work. The overall experience and performance from the display are really impressive.
Coming to the design, we can see that Vivo has done something new in this device. The body is plastic built and the front display consists of a hole-punch. The bezels at the front are really thin and look very nice. At the back panel, we can see a good glossy color finish which is really pleasing to the eyes. We can also see Quad rear camera setup at the back which are all fitted in a diamond shape module located in the middle. We also can see the company logo at the bottom middle of the phone written vertically and followed by a straight line that goes up to the camera module.
At the right edge, we can find volume rockers and a power button whereas a speaker grill, Type-C port and Sim tray at the bottom edge and 3.5mm headphone jack at the top edge.

Camera
Vivo S5 comes with a Quad rear camera setup; a 48MP main sensor (Just like Redmi Note 8T), 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, 2MP macro lens, and 5MP depth field sensor supported by an LED flash. All the sensors and flash are fitted into a diamond shape module expect one sensor which is placed right at the bottom middle outside of the module. With the help of a 48MP camera sensor, Vivo S5 captures really good images with good quality. The images are really colorful, well balanced, sharp, and of high quality. This setup can also record videos in 4K at 30fps and in 1080p at 30fps.
As for the front camera department, Vivo S5 sports a 32MP camera (similar to V17 Pro) which really does a good job when it comes to snapping selfies and videos. Vivo claims that it has deployed an algorithm to capture clearer selfies while preserving detail. This front camera also records videos in 1080p at 30fps.

Performance, Software, Storage
To deliver performance, Vivo S5 is equipped with Snapdragon 712 chipset, octa-core processor, Adreno 616 as GPU and 8GB of RAM which all runs on Android 9.0 Pie skinned with Funtouch 9.2. The chipset is not the latest from Qualcomm but this chipset can also do all the works. The gaming performance and high graphics work can be done but not as smooth as with the latest chipsets. Funtouch 9.2 also needs a lot of work to be done, especially on its icons which feels odd.
The overall performance of Vivo S5 is good and will be enough for most of people. Vivo S5 offers only one storage variant which is 8GB/128GB and its storage can be increased furthermore up to 128GB via microSD card slot.
Battery and connectivity
Vivo S5 packs a Li-Po 4100mAh battery which also supports 22.5W Fast battery charging. This battery can provide juice for a day in normal use and if sometimes it’s juice drains because of heavy usage, gaming or doing high graphics work than its juice can be refilled really quick from its 22.5W fast battery charging feature. So, the battery and its juice won’t be a problem at all.
As for connectivity, Vivo S5 comes with all the common and necessary sensors found in a smartphone in addition to an In-display fingerprint scanner, USB 2.0, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector, USB On-The-Go, MicroSD card slot, active noise cancellation dedicated mic and a traditional 3.5mm headphone jack.
Vivo S5 Price in Nepal
Vivo S5 is currently only in sale in China where it is priced at CNY 2698. If we convert this price into INR than it becomes INR 27,000. It will surely be available in the India market and then only hit Nepal’s market. Vivo S5 is expected to launch in India on February 20, 2019. After it launches, we speculated that the Vivo S5 price in Nepal could be Rs. 43,000. However, there are lots of other smartphones in Nepal’s market under Rs. 40,000 those worth the price. The color variants that Vivo S5 will offer are Icelandic Blue, Phantom Blue, and Star Black.
