Huawei unveiled Huawei MatePad Pro – New competitor to iPad and Galaxy tab?


A new competitor in the tablet market is here. To go against the likes of Apple and Samsung in the tablet market, Huawei has made its way with the announcement of Huawei MatePad Pro. Huawei MatePad Pro is all set to compete against Apple’s iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab. Can MatePad Pro go head-to-head with the iPad and Galaxy Tab? Let’s have a look at the features and the specifications of Huawei MatePad Pro.

Design and Display

From the aesthetic point of view, Huawei MatePad Pro looks stunning. MatePad Pro flaunts 10.8-inches IPS LCD display having 2560 x 1600 pixels. It has a screen to body ratio of 90%. If we compare the iPad Pro has a screen-to-body ratio of 84.6% and Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 has at 83%. In terms of bezel thickness, MatePad Pro tops with extra-thin 4.9mm bezels against the 8.3mm of the iPad Pro and 8.5mm of the Tab S6.

The power button is placed on the top edge and the volume keys can be found on the right edge of the device. There’s no sight of 3.55mm audio jack. The MatePad Pro body is made of metal. Punch-hole display has been around for quite long on the smartphones but for the first time, there’s punch-hole display on a tablet.

Camera

Huawei MatePad Pro is the first tablet to have a punch-hole display. The 8 MP, f/2.0 selfie camera is confined on the punch-hole display on the top-right corner of the device. With this, you can shoot HDR videos: 1080p@30fps.

For the rear camera, we have 13 MP, f/1.8, PDAF placed on the top-left corner. Above the camera lens lies an LED flash. With this camera lens, you can shoot HDR videos 2160p@30fps and 1080p@30fps.

M-Pencil Stylus

Huawei MatePad Pro comes with an M-Pencil stylus with a 4096-level pressure sensitivity nib. It has a hexagonal integrated design. You can do your works like Graffiti painting, document processing, class notes, hand-to-word, drawings, etc. at ease and smoothly as the pencil paper goes up and down naturally.

M-Pencil can be attached on the top of the fuselage with active magnetic pairing and supports simultaneous wireless charging. Fast charge for 30 seconds, use M-Pencil for 10-minutes. On the full charge of 1 hour, you can use it for 10 hours.

Performance, Software, and Battery

Huawei MatePad Pro is powered by Huawei’s best, a Kirin 990 processor. This is the same processor you find on Huawei Mate 30 series. Definitely there will be top-notch performance on this tablet. Some even have speculated that it’s the most powerful Android tablet ever. MatePad Pro comes in the storage variant of 6/128 GB, 8/256 GB, and 8/512 GB. For the memory expansion Nano Memory up to 256 GB.

MatePad Pro runs on Android 10 OS, EMUI 10. The most unique features this tablet has is a collaborative feature. This allows you to clone the phone’s interface on MatePad Pro screen. Not only cloning the interface, you can share files between the devices effortlessly, answer the phone calls, send/receive text messages. You can connect an optional keyboard. This will change the tablet’s interface to computer mode to give you the best desktop PC experience.

MatePad Pro is fueled by 7,250mAh battery. In addition, you get 40-Watt fast charging and 15-Watt wireless charging. It also supports 7.5-Watt reverse wireless charging. For the charging port, we have USB Type-C. MatePad Pro is available in Gray, White, Orange and Green color.

Price and Availability

Huawei MatePad Pro will be on sale on 12 December in China. So far we do not have the confirmation on the availability of MatePad Pro in Nepal. However, if it does it would be interesting to see what Huawei MatePad is capable of. The price of Huawei MatePad Pro are as follows:
