LG is one of the oldest companies to manufacture electronic goods. LG is trusted by many consumers and has earned the loyalty and support of many of its consumers when it comes to electronic goods such as TV, Washing machine, DVD player, etc. But when it comes to making smartphones, LG’s smartphones seem to be overpriced which resulted in its unpopularity of smartphones and fewer consumers. LG hasn’t given up yet and has launched another phone in April 2019 named “LG G8 ThinQ” which also seems to be overpriced. LG G8 ThinQ has reached Nepal’s market yet but when it reaches we expect LG G8 ThinQ price in Nepal to be around Rs. 45,000 as per our speculations.

Display and Design
LG G8 ThinQ comes with a 6.1-inch P-OLED display with a resolution of 1440×3120 which houses a notch (Just like iPhone 11) on its bottom top area and has the protection of Gorilla Glass 5. This display also acts as a speaker because it has Dolby Vision which means the phone does not have any speaker holes rather uses the display vibration to emit sound. Sounds, quite interesting right, let me add another thing now, the display also has Always-on display feature.

LG G8 ThinQ offers an aluminum frame, plastic back layered with Gorilla Glass 6 and a dual or triple camera setup at the back which varies on region. The camera setup sits on the bottom top of the device horizontally supported by an LED flash. The front side of the device nearly looks bezeless on the side edges but has a thin bezel on the bottom and a notch at the bottom top. Volume rockers and a dedicated Google Assistant button are fitted at the right edge side of the phone. The fingerprint scanner mount is always fitted right below the rear camera setup. This phone is IP68 dust/water-resistant.
Camera
The LG G8 ThinQ offers a triple rear camera setup or dual rear camera setup which varies on region. Triple rear camera consists of 12MP main sensor, 16MP ultra-wide-angle lens and 12MP telephoto lens whereas Dual rear camera setup which consists of 12MP main sensor and 16MP ultra-wide lens. This setup provides great detailed images but lacks a bit wide-angle shots in low-light conditions. This camera can also record videos in 4K at 30/60fps, 1080p at 30/60fps, 720p at 240fps. As for the front camera department, G8 ThinQ provides an 8MP camera that does a decent job of snapping selfies and record videos. The skin smoothing and the HDR feature really comes handy with this 8MP camera sensor. This camera sensor also can record videos in 1080p at 60fps.
Performance, Software, Storage
To deliver performance, LG G8 ThinQ comes with a Snapdragon 855 chipset, Octa-core processor, Adreno 640 as GPU and 6GB RAM which all runs on Android 9.0 Pie skinned with LG UX 8.0. LG G8 gives users a real experience while gaming and doing tasks. Combing all the specs with a great display that emits clear and detailed sound is really great. It comes in only one variant; 6GB/128GB which can be further expanded to 1TB via MicroSD card slot. LG also has introduced Hand ID and Air Motion gestures in this device which lags and is a feature that consumers don’t care about.
Battery and connectivity
LG G8 ThinQ packs 3500mAh battery with 21W fast charging support (Quick Charge 3.0), USB power delivery and also supports 9W wireless charging. 3500mAh battery may struggle to last a day and is a relatively small battery compared to other devices, even midrange phones nowadays have 4000mAh (Like Redmi Note 8) battery or 4500mAh battery (Like Redmi Note 8 Pro )that lasts through a day easily.
As for connectivity, LG G8 ThinQ comes with all common sensors and barometer plus the sensors that are used to operate Hand ID and Air motion gestures. It also consists of a traditional 3.5mm headphone jack, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector, DTS: X Surround sound and active noise cancellation with dedicated mic.
