The last couple of years has been very fruitful for the smartphone industry. In the last two years, we have seen quite a big leap in tech. Wireless charging always has been slower than the wired charging counterpart. But advancement and development in tech are slowly changing that. Recently Vivo via its Apex series launched a concept phone named Vivo Apex 2020 5G which features a 60W wireless charging. But being a concept phone, the charging capability of the phone is unknown. The brand claims the phone is capable of charging a 2000mAh battery in just 20 minutes. On the other hand, Xiaomi is considered a leader when it comes to faster wireless charging. Recently, Xiaomi demonstrated its new 40W wireless charging solution, which has raised the bar yet again.
Xiaomi’s Vice President Chang Cheng, via Weibo account, made the announcement of their new wireless charging solution as well as posted a timelapse video of the same. The video demonstrates the speed of the 40 Watt wireless charger by Xiaomi.
In the video we see a 4000mAh battery getting charged via a wireless charger. The phone hits the 50% mark, in under 20 minutes and gets fully charged in 40 minutes. If true the wireless charging solution from Xiaomi is on par with Apex 2020 5G which has a 60W wireless charging and claims to charge a 2000mAh battery in 20 minutes. This is a great leap in wireless charging technology and we soon might see phones that charge faster wirelessly than through cable.
