LG Velvet launch date and color options confirmed, launching on May 7

LG recently teased a video of its upcoming smartphone, the LG Velvet that will replace the LG G series. The teaser showed a phone with a totally new design aesthetics that has created a hype for this phone. We speculated that the company might take its sweet time to launch the phone but it seems they have a different plan. LG on April 23, 2020, unloaded another video on their youtube channel confirming the launch date of the device. Along with the launch date video also gave some hint about the color options, the phone will come in.

In the previous teaser video, LG showcased the elegant and smooth design of the phone. It also gave some important information regarding the future plans of the company like, deviation from Alphanumeric naming. The latest video follows the previous teaser and has given us some pretty good amount of information regarding the device. It showcases the beautiful raindrop camera set up that will feature on the phone. The raindrop cameras would be a triple camera setup, while the fourth drop represents a LED flash.

Not only that, the video also gives hints about the color options the phone will come in. In the video, we can see four different color droplets changing into the cameras. Those colors are white, grey, green, and red/orange. So we expect the phones to come in four color variants: Aurora White, Aurora Gray, Aurora Green, and Illusion Sunset.

The video also tells us about the release date of the LG Velvet. At the end of the video, it mentions, the device will be unveiled on May 7 at 10 AM KST. It would be 6:45 AM Nepali Time and 9 PM ET (May 6). The launch event will be an online event, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, you will be able to watch the online event through LG’s official Facebook and Youtube accounts.

LG Velvet Specs

The LG Velvet is confirmed to be powered by a Snapdragon 7655G processor and wound be 5G ready out of the box. The phone will sport a 6.7-inch OLED display, featuring a waterdrop notch and in-display fingerprint sensor. As for the camera, the Velvet will sport a triple camera setup, the primary sensor being a 48MP lens. The device is also expected to feature a 4000mAh battery to keep the lights running. 3.5mm audio jack is also expected to come with the phone. Other rumored feature of the phone includes Dual screen support and Pen support.

LG Velvet Price and Availability

Talking about the price of the phone, no information regarding the cost has been revealed yet. But it is speculated to be priced around 800,000 KRW (~$650) which when converted to Nepali rupees is approximately equivalent to 79,000. As for availability, the phone will go on sale starting mid-May.
