OnePlus 8 Pro images and specs leaks, confirms quad cameras with ToF sensor and 5G support

OnePlus releases four phones a year; two in the Q2 and the other two in the Q4. However, OnePlus is expected to release new devices as early as the next month. And this time, instead of two phones in Q2, OnePlus might drop a “Lite” version too along regular and Pro variants.

With said that, just recently, new images and leaks have surfaced giving off information on OnePlus 8 Pro backpanel and specs. These leaks were shared by Slashleaks’ tipster on OnePlus official discord server and later shared on Twitter.

The leaks showcase a purple backpanel with a vertical aligned quad-camera setup with an additional ToF (Time of Flight) and an LED flash sitting below the setup. Not to mention, some earlier OnePlus 8 Pro leaked images had shared similar setup back in October 2019.

OnePlus might drop not two but three new OnePlus 8 variants

Another leaks suggest OnePlus is in work to go for three new OnePlus 8 variants, with new “Lite” addition to its family, rather than two variants.

The OnePlus 8 Pro is likely to sport a 6.65-inch AMOLED display with QHD+ resolution and upgraded 120Hz refresh rate, as opposed to 90Hz on OnePlus 7T Pro and 7 Pro. The report suggests, unlike Galaxy S20+ limited 120Hz refresh rate to FHD+ resolution, OnePlus 8 might support fluid 120Hz at QHD+ resolution too.

On the fascia, OnePlus might ditch a pop-up selfie camera and include a 32MP punch-hole cutout camera with an under-display fingerprint scanner. And on the back, the triple camera configuration could be 64MP + 20MP + 12MP.

Speaking of the chipset and performance, OnePlus 8 Pro is rumored to powered by 7nm Snapdragon 865 processor and accompanied by 12GB of RAM and 256GB storage. Besides, the Pro version could feature super-fast 50W wired charging, 4,500mAh battery, wireless charging capability, and IP68 water and dust resistant certification.

On the other hand, the OnePlus 8 will be a toned-down variant with a 6.5-inch 90Hz FHD+ AMOLED display, and will also be sporting Snapdragon 865 under the hood. However, the OnePlus 8 will likely rock a triple-camera setup, without the ToF sensor. Both of the OnePlus 8 and the 8 Pro will reportedly come with 5G support and Android 10 out of the box.

And following the speculations, the OnePlus 8 Lite could release with a mid-range MediaTek Dimensity 1000 SoC, 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED display and 90Hz refresh rate screen. The lite variant will also have similar triple rear cameras, however, the combination is rumored to be 48MP + 20MP + 12MP. Also, the OnePlus 8 Lite could be a straight successor to the 2015’s OnePlus X.
