OPPO has set a very different and unique identity for itself in the smartphone industry. The brand offers a variety of smartphones ranging from budget to premium flagship with bold and trendy designs to meet users’ needs. And their latest offering, the all-new OPPO K3 is a premium-looking affordable mid-range smartphone and a straight competitor to Realme X and Redmi K20.

OPPO K3: Design and Display

OPPO K3 is a beautifully designed phone with all-screen, except for the fact there is a little chin on the bottom. The display up-front has zero notches and comes with a motorized pop-up selfie camera to achieve the all-screen feat.

Speaking of the design, the K3 shares a similar outlook to the company’s premium flagship OPPO Reno 10X Zoom, but the rear-panel of the K3 is plastic finished. A vertical dual-camera setup sits on the rear-middle above the LED flash. You won’t find any rear-mounted fingerprint scanner on the phone, as the K3 has equipped a fancy under-display sensor for that. The bottom of the K3 has 3.5mm headphone jack intact, upgraded USB Type-C port, and the single speaker grille.

Measuring 6.5 inches display, the K3 has adopted Super AMOLED FHD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display is aided with an extra layer of protection with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

As it turns out, the all-screen display is a new cool thing, the smartphone OEMs have been pushing the corners of the screen trying out all the tricks out there. And the most common and trendy trick of 2019 has been a motorized pop-up camera, which the K3 proudly wears on the front. The pop-up selfie camera is a 16MP sensor with AI beautification and OPPO Portrait Mode 2.0 pre-enabled.

On the back, there is 16MP + 2MP vertical dual-camera setup. The main camera module is a 16MP with f/1.7 aperture, paired with a 2MP depth sensor. There are few camera modes to play with, but among all the Ultra Night Mode 2.0 is an upgraded one and comes to both front and rear cameras.

Performance, Software, and Battery

Like most of the mid-range smartphones, the K3 is powered by Snapdragon 710 SoC coupled with either 6 RAM and 64GB in-built storage, or 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. Given the 710’s performance and enough memory to support, the K3 shouldn’t stutter while gaming or opening other heavy apps.

The OPPO K3 runs on ColorOS 6, based on Android 9.0 Pie and packs a 3765mAh battery. The company claims the phone can be charged with hours of battery life with 15 mins of the plug-in, thanks to OPPO’s VOOC Flash Charge 3.0 fast charging tech.
