
Xiaomi, the youngest Fortune Global 500 Company, today announced that the company has become the number one smartphone brand in Nepal. The report comes from IDC’s latest Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, Q1 2020 data.
This is the first time that the brand has led the smartphone market in Nepal since it started its operations in October 2018. To climb to the leadership, Xiaomi dethroned long-champion Samsung and captured 30.9% of market share in Q1 2020. The list includes Vivo in the third position followed by OPPO and Lava in the fourth and the fifth position respectively.

The company shares two Xiaomi phones made out of the top five smartphones where Redmi Note 8 led as #1 smartphone followed by Redmi 8 at #2.
Xiaomi witnessed gradual growth in the market in the form of successful festive sales and was #1 brand in all the online sale events by Daraz Nepal. Other than that, the offline sales contributed to overall growth too. The company already has set up over 900 offline partners with 350 Mi Preferred Partner shops across the country within a year.
Xiaomi ranks fourth with an 8.9% market share of the total global smartphone market as per IDC’s 2019 Q4 report. It showcased YoY growth of 31.1%. Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan).
