Realme, within a very short span of time, has managed to rank among the top 10 smartphones brands globally and has shipped over 10,000,000 smartphones. (Counterpoint Research Report Q2 2019). And now, Realme is onto achieving another feat by preparing to launch its first 64MP camera sensor smartphone.

The specs for the phone haven’t been made public, however, the camera details are already announced.

The Quad-Camera Setup

In 2019, camera-game in the smartphones are stronger than ever and the proof is smartphone OEMs like Realme packing up quad cameras. The recent one is Realme’s vertically placed quad-camera setup— 64MP Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor followed by the ultra-wide-angle module, the macro unit, and the depth sensor.

Ultra Clear 64MP Main Camera

The device packs a 64MP sensor of 1/1.72” and has a pixel size of 0.8μm, however, it works similarly to Redmi K20 Pro’s 48MP counterpart. The camera sensor employs Tetracell technology which uses pixel binning to generate 16MP images with larger 1.6μm pixels and real-time HDR.

Rest of Quad-camera setup

An ultra-wide angle sensor is second in line after 64MP main camera. This module has an f/2.2 aperture, 119-degrees field of vision and can take pictures in 8MP resolution.

This ultra-wide lens is followed by a super-macro with f/2.4 aperture and pixel size of 1.75μm. From the hands-on reports by GSMArena, the module can capture details as close as 4cm.

The last one in the quad-camera setup is a depth sensor to enhance portrait photography. This new portrait lens is reported to have five portrait styles and eight intelligent face-beauty modes.

According to Realme, this portrait lens could also be replaced by 2x telephoto lens, however, it might not support optical zooming.

Though the Realme 5 and 5 Pro are announced to make a debut on August 15th in China with the quad-camera setup, chances are also there might not be 64MP main camera sensor on this lineup. As Realme has said they will launch the 64MP quad-camera setup in India before Deepawali, Oct 27. Meaning, the 64MP sensor would likely sit on next Realme X-lineup smartphone.
