Nokia has been releasing a series of affordable smartphones, mostly being entry-level and budget phones vying to reign smartphones under 10000, 15000 and 20000 price segments. Nokia 4.2, Nokia 3.2 and Nokia 2.2 are some recent smartphones. Nokia 2.2 was first seen in June and Nokia 3.2 in February, however, these two budget-oriented phones were recently released in Nepal this July.
Nokia 2.2
Nokia 2.2 is, sure, an entry-level priced phone but the aesthetics of the phone doesn’t disappoint. The handset houses a relatively larger 5.71-inch HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19:9. There is waterdrop notch on the top, noticeable side bezels and thick chin on the bottom, which can be ignored for this price. Another thing to be noticed is, the smartphone has a dedicated button for Google Assistant on the left edge and back-facing speaker.
Speaking of the camera, the Nokia 2.2 packs a single 13MP lens with an f/2.2 aperture on the back and a LED flash below it. On the front, there is a 5MP selfie camera. And as the phone lacks a fingerprint sensor for biometric login, the selfie camera can also act as biometric security for Face Unlock.
Performance-wise, the phone is powered by an entry-level quad-core MediaTek Helio A22 chipset and coupled with either 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, or 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. The storage can be further expanded up to 400GB via microSD.
The device comes in two different colors; Steel and Tungsten Black, and has a removable polycarbonate rear panel. Inside, it has a 3,000mAh battery.
Besides all the modest specs for this price, the phone does excel at one thing; OS and software. The Nokia 2.2, like most of Nokia’s recent smartphones, comes with unadulterated stock Android OS; Android One based on Android 9.0 (Pie). In fact, the phone is promised with two years of future OS updates, which means Nokia 2.2 will get the Android Q and R updates, possibly making Nokia 2.2 the most affordable phone to get Android Q. To sweeten the pot, the company has committed to providing three years of security updates for the phone.
